The War?

The conventional wisdom is that Labor dropped its majority from rections to the war, but if that's so why did voters reward Tories more than the LibDems? The LibDems gained at the expense of Labor but the Tories gained both Tory and LibDem seats. If it were really about the war, it seems like the LibDems would have done much better. I think in part it was from being in power so long and in part it was other issues besides the war.

Except for Bethnal Green & Bow, where George Galloway beat the Labor incumbent. But that is a heavily Muslim area and Oona King had voted for the war. That seems to me more a fluke than the rule.
